Choosing a Different Story (or on Being Good Enough)

It’s been two years and eight months since I last posted here on SKC.

I know that’s a very, very long time.

It’s been a long, hard road getting here. To get back to sitting here in front of my computer and writing to you all again.

There have been bright days and dark days.

Since my last post, Christopher graduated from USD.

I stopped developing recipes, stopped shooting food, stopped writing.

We moved from sunny San Diego halfway across the country to the great north of Minnesota.  Continue reading

On the eve of this magical day called Christmas, my heart isn’t filled with recipes or stories.

Christmas Eve dinner is cooking, fairy lights are twinkling and Nat King Cole is singing his songs.

Hello world!

Just a small taste of what’s to come

Hello world and welcome!  My name is Christina Lazarakis and this tiny corner of the interweb is Small Kitchen Chronicles.

I must confess, I am not a fan of my kitchen.  Two words: too small.  Twenty five and a half tiny-square-feet-small, and unfortunately, no, that number is not an exaggeration.

I moved into said kitchen in December of 2011, when I moved in with my then-fiance, now wonderful-husband, Christopher.  It suffices to say, it was not a love-at-first sight thing, this introduction to my new kitchen. Continue reading
